Vibrant Accommodation & Delicious Meals

You’ll reside in a comfortable, private house nestled within the lively Victoria Falls Backpackers. This unique setting offers access to fantastic amenities including a spacious dining area, a bar, a refreshing swimming pool, and even a rock-climbing wall – perfect for unwinding after a day of volunteering. Located just a 5-minute walk from Livingstone’s town centre, you’ll have easy access to grocery stores, cafes, bars, and restaurants. Bedrooms are shared, sleeping 4-8 people in bunk beds, with shared bathrooms offering hot water showers. Culinary delights await with authentic stews, local beers, and traditional open-flame braais (barbecues). Rest assured, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided Monday to Friday, and all dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and various intolerances, are catered for with advance notice.

Stay Connected & Supported

Keeping in touch is easy with free WiFi available at your accommodation. For broader connectivity, local SIM cards can be purchased at shops or the airport, offering various packages for calls and data. While power supply can be intermittent in Livingstone, bringing a power bank and embracing patience will ensure you stay charged. From the moment you arrive, our brilliant team, led by Base Manager Sander, will be there to support you every step of the way. You’ll get to know our dedicated crew of changemakers incredibly well, both during your project work and back at the base.

Seamless Arrivals & Expert Safety

Your adventure begins smoothly with a complimentary transfer service from Harry Mwanga Nkumbula (Livingstone) International Airport (LVI) on your Monday start date. Just look for the friendly face holding the welcome sign between 9 am and 6 pm. Your safety is our utmost priority. The base boasts 24/7 outsourced security staff and our team is extensively trained in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) competencies. The accommodation is equipped with fire safety equipment and evacuation plans, and all project transport uses well-maintained vehicles with licensed drivers who know safe routes to project venues. Comprehensive policies, including child protection, are in place, and a thorough induction on all safety procedures and codes of conduct will be provided upon your arrival

  • As a mentor and catalyst for change, you will work with approximately six “Girl Impact” groups, delivering transformative workshops across six crucial pillars: education, self-confidence, health, early pregnancy prevention, safety, and income generation. Your efforts will equip Zambian females with the tools to make informed choices, shatter stereotypes, develop essential life skills like leadership, communication, and critical thinking, and thrive as future leaders and role models, guiding the next generation towards a sustainable legacy.

Cultivating Male Allies

  • You will facilitate crucial workshops for local boys and young men, actively shaping their understanding of equality and respect. These sessions tackle vital topics such as self-confidence, bullying, healthy relationships, and gender-based violence, creating safe spaces for expression and encouraging them to become powerful allies for girls in their communities and dedicated advocates for a more equitable society.

Beyond the Classroom with Clubs

  • Through dynamic Clubs, you will empower girls through tag rugby, promoting teamwork, physical fitness, and vital nutrition education while providing a unique platform to discuss gender equality. Additionally, you will provide targeted exam preparation support for both boys and girls in Grades 5 and 6, focusing particularly on mathematics, to boost confidence and build a strong academic foundation for future success.

Advancing Global Goals

  • Ultimately, your contributions will directly impact and drive measurable progress towards the United Nations’ Global Goal for Gender Equality, fostering a more inclusive and just world for all.

Explore Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park for a convenient safari experience, where you can spot majestic elephants, zebras, and more, all set against the breathtaking backdrops of the Zambezi River. For the ultimate immersion, consider an overnight safari to Chobe National Park in Botswana, world-renowned for its colossal elephant population!
